The GOP Doesn't Support Family Planning. Maybe They Need a Lesson on the Birds & the Bees

Background for This Video: On Friday, February 22, 2011, the House of Representatives voted to defund Planned Parenthood, pretending it was because of abortion, even though 90% of Planned Parenthood's funds go to basic health care for middle-class and poor women. Planned Parenthood is a place to get inexpensive annual pelvic exams, get annual breast exams, get info on and access to birth control, and be educated, tested, and treated for STDs. Only 3% of Planned Parenthood's budget goes to abortion (a legal procedure), and as is the law, NO FEDERAL FUNDS are ever used to pay for abortions or for Planned Parenthood's abortion budget.

Why Should You Watch: In under 2 minutes Nancy Pelosi politely explains that "pro-life" Republicans (and "pro-life" Democrats) are against contraception and are trying to hide behind Planned Parenthood.

Also:The amendment still needs to pass in the Senate and be signed by the President in order to take effect. Still, this is bad for anyone (woman or man) who depends on contraception and bad for women (and men) who simply want basic reproductive health care.
